Eurosoil 2021 Geneva is Going Virtual

Due to the ongoing effects of COVID-19 and the persistent uncertainty on travel restrictions, country lock-downs and physical distancing requirements, the Eurosoil 2021 organisers have decided to transform the physical 2021 congress into a virtual congress from 23 -27 August 2021.

This decision has been taken by the committee in order to ensure the smooth planning and delivery of this event in the most serene and fair conditions for the participants, speakers, sponsors, contributors and organisers.

One of the key benefits of a virtual event is providing on-demand content for viewers from across the globe for a longer period of time than simply the dates of the “live” event. This allows the opportunity for a much larger audience to experience and access Eurosoil content according to everyone’s own schedule, time zone and pace.

Please note that we are currently receiving a great number of e-mails and phone calls, and we are doing our best to reply to each one as soon as possible. Under the current circumstances, we kindly ask you for patience, but we will respond as soon as possible.

Eurosoil 2021 FAQs

No! As a direct result of the outbreak of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and its far-reaching consequences on travel, gatherings, and social distancing rules, Eurosoil has decided to transition the physical event, planned for 23–27 August 2021 in Geneva, into a fully digital congress.

Eurosoil’s primary concern is the health and safety of its whole community including ECSSS members, attendees, exhibitors and sponsors, as well as local staff and suppliers. Eurosoil has decided to move to a digital experience and ensure continued education and science to its leading research scientists and everyone involved in the field of soil science. The Eurosoil organisers see this digital event as an opportunity to widen the audience and maximise the interactions, in particular between stakeholders, thus increasing the Connecting People and Soil value of Eurosoil.

The Eurosoil organisers, committee and local partners have been consulting regularly to discuss the current situation, its evolution and the uncertainty of consequences on everyday life and especially large gatherings of people. A decision had to be taken with enough time to allow for the organisation of a unique and innovative Eurosoil experience, virtually.

The virtual event (with “live” and interactive sessions) will take place from 23 to 27 August 2021.

Of course, as the congress will be virtual, all the content will be available for viewing/re-viewing for a longer period of time.

Full details on the programme, platform and user information coming soon – please watch out for upcoming e-mails and check out the congress website regularly for the latest information.

Your registration will automatically be transferred and applicable to the Eurosoil virtual congress and the difference in registration price will be refunded to you. Registration prices and deadlines can be found on the congress website.

The fees and deadlines are now available on the congress website.

The digital format is leading us to make some modifications to the programme (such as duration of the sessions or format of the presentations) and the organising committee is currently working on a revised version. A preliminary version is available here.

You will receive an e-mail from the Congress Secretariat regarding your participation in the programme and eventual next steps.

All accepted contributions to sessions will be maintained for the Eurosoil 2021 virtual congress.

Contributors will have the opportunity to amend/update/edit their contribution in 2021 – details of the timeline for this process will be communicated once finalised.

Late breaking contribution submission has now closed. Thanks for your submissions!

In order to present a contribution at the congress, you must be registered. Reduced fees are available for residents of Low, Lower-Middle, and Middle Income countries, as well as students (proof of status is required).

If a session has not received sufficient contributions it will be merged with another session. One convener may present per session, if there is a clear case for having more than one convener, you must provide the rationale to the Theme Leader who will make a decision as to whether this can be permitted.

You will be contacted by the Congress Secretariat to explain how your investment will be transformed to the virtual event. New opportunities will also be presented soon to support Eurosoil and the 2021 virtual congress.
